Southeast Florida Lutherans Together in Mission

The 16 ELCA churches in and near the Broward-Bahamas Conference of the ELCA face the same challenges that churches all over the country face, but these churches are facing those challenges together. The Southeast Florida Lutheran congregations are engaged in an intentional process to explore the potential of collaboration as a tool for revitalization and for more effective mission. We want to turn our difficulties into opportunites by sharing our skills and our resources. We want to move from surviving to thriving. And most of all we want to share God's love with the 500,000 people in Southeast Florida who don't know that love now.
This ambitious effort is supported and encouraged by the Florida-Bahamas Synod of the ELCA and by the ELCA's Evangelical Outreach and Congregational Mission Unit. Pastor Paul Lutze of the Florida-Bahamas Synod and Mission Director Pastor Jerry Wahl helped get this effort started and both participated in the workshop on November 14, 2009. David Raymond from ChurchFuture in Minneapolis has been engaged to facilitate the workshops and serve as a coach and consultant in this effort.
"Together in Mission" has been centered around monthly workshops for leaders and pastors from all the congregations. See the November, December and January pages for notes from those workshops. Since then the work is being carried out on the congregational and cluster level. The News Updates page has information about this more recent work.
